Watch “Mermaids: The Body Found” to decide for yourself.

Paul Robertson, a former employee of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), speaks in a two-hour Animal Planet special about his experiences with his research team while they were investigating mass whale beachings around the world. This television program, “Mermaids: The Body Found,” took about five years to complete and gives compelling evidence that suggests that mermaids could be real.

In this program, a sound clip that has been called “the bloop” is played as the first piece of evidence that there is an unknown or new species in the water. Robertson and his team were investigating the mass whale beachings in 2007. When they examined the tissue samples that they took from the whales, they discovered evidence of a SONAR weapon. They believed that this weapon caused the whales to become disoriented. The whales tried to escape the blasts of sound and ended up in waters that were too shallow to support their massive sizes, so they ended up beached.

To try and prove this theory, they pulled up one of their buoys that was recording SONAR activity. It was in this recording that the bloop was discovered. They recognized the sound of another animal mixed in with the sounds of the whales and dolphins. After more closely inspecting it, they discovered that the unknown creature was communicating with them, possibly warning each other to get away.

Later on, there was another mass beaching in South Africa. The researchers in South Africa had recorded similar sounds on their own devices. Robertson and his team traveled there to investigate. There, they were shown the remains of an unknown creature that had been found inside a great white shark. After carefully studying this creature’s remains, these scientists became convinced that it was a mermaid.

Unfortunately, the government confiscated the remains and their research as the team was about to return to the United States. The only thing that they had left was the bloop. Robertson tracked down one of two boys that had reportedly seen a mermaid body on the beach the morning of the first mass whale beaching. He says that he captured the mermaid on his camera phone. Robertson viewed this video as well as a drawing that the boy did after the event. The drawing matched what his team had found.

In addition to all of the scientific evidence that they found, they also looked to history for some evidence. There have been reports of strange spears and daggers found in sea creatures that fishermen have been finding for years. Robertson had found one of these tools in the great white shark. 16th-century drawings show very close matches to what Robertson and his team found. Ancient cave paintings show struggles between humans and mermaids.

Robertson stated in the program that he believes that mermaids do exist but that, unlike one of his colleagues who thinks that the only solution is to find them, he doesn’t want to find the mermaids anymore. He stated that he thinks the mermaids have survived this long because they know how to hide. He talked about how he doesn’t think that humans would be able to coexist with the mermaids without wiping them out. He is still trying to get the testing and development of the SONAR weapon to stop in order to save whales, dolphins and mermaids.

Whether they are mermaids or not, there are definitely mysterious and unknown species in the oceans. Watch “Mermaids: The Body Found” to decide for yourself.

Aquatic 8

Animals have a behavior that they tend to become similar body shapes at last even if they belong different classifications to be adapted to an environment. The aquatic animals are one of the examples. They have become the same body shape as fish. Seals and sealions blong to carnivorous animals as same as cats, also whales and dolphins are considered that they are posterities of the ancestor of elephants. We can consider penguins as aquatic birds, also marine reptiles called ichthyosaurs lived in ancient times. On the same concept some people advance the theory that human beings were aquatic primates. I will enumerate the bases of this theory.

1)We have well-developed brains: It is the popular theory that our brains have grown bigger because of we had be able to walk upright in the stage of evolution, but we also can think that the cause of it was the ancestor of human-beings lived in water with floating as dolphins.

2)We have smooth skins with no fur: Dolphins and seals also don’t have fur. Conversely try to imagine that animals with fur live in water. They would be just like swimming with wearing cloths. It must be difficult to swim because their fur would be heavy with holding water, and they would be cold when they go up to the land.

3)We have a straight body, straight arms and legs: It is said that our bodies became straight because we had begun to walk upright, but what was the advantage of walking upright with opposing gravity ? It could be possible that our backs became straight and legs also extended straight from the waist to be suitable body-shape for swimming. Penguins can toddle with standing like human-beings because their bodies became a suitable shape for swimming. It is not accidental to feel a sense of closeness for penguins.

4)It is said that being fat is the default of us: Imagine a man with attaching fat on his belly, hips and thighs -His body would be the same streamline shape as a seal.

5)We have the same physiological phenomenon as dolphins in the deep underwater: Jacques Mayol who was the first free diver to descend to 100 meters in 1976 said that in the world of the “grand blue” with a depth of 105 meters, his pulse which was 60 times per minute usually had fallen on 20 times per minute. He also had the physiological phenomenon called “brood shift” which would result for dolphins but it had been said that it wouldn’t happen to human-beings.

6) It is said that eating fish is good for our health: It is said that one of the reasons why Japanese are the most long-lived in the world is because of they eat much fish. It can be explained on the assumption that the ancestor of human-beings were aquatic primates and eating fish was their default eating.

I think that the next basis is my original. 7)The shape of the human beings’ nose is similar to the whale’s one: This is a well-known fact known to insiders, but the whale’s nose is placed on the top of its head and upside-down. Conversely try to imagine that why human beings’ noses are similar not to the noses of anthropoids like gorillas or chimpanzees but to the whale’s one. It would be convenient to swim that the holes of a nose are placed to the reverse direction of movement because water cannot pour in them easily. If it swells up in the same form as the triangle bow of a ship, it can push water aside and the resistance of water decreases. I believe that the ancestor of human beings were able to open and close freely the holes of their noses.

Finally there is the 8th basis of this theory: If I ask a person in the world that where would he/she like to go for vacation supposing he/she can go anywere in the world. Probably many of them would answer that they would like to go southern islands with beautiful seashores. It was the original scenery which the human beings’ ancestor viewed on the seashore in Africa millions of years ago.

History Of Cats Eyes: Percy Shaw

Percy Shaw Invented Cats Eyes

It is said that Shaw was driving home at night in the fog in 1933 when he reached a dangerous part of the road. Shaw claimed that at night he drove by using the reflection that his car headlights gave off in the tram tracks. But on this night in 1933 the fog was so bad that there was no reflection off the tracks and he could not make out where the road turned into the hillside. That is until he had the fortune of spotting his headlights reflecting back from the eyes of a stray cat that was sat by the road.

This was when it clicked that it would be a brilliant idea to replicate the reflection of Cat’s Eyes to guide drivers along dark and dangerous roads. Shaw realised that as the car was becoming more popular and more motorists would want to drive at night – they would need a guide as headlights would not be enough to keep them safe.

Patent Registered for Cat’s Eyes

Shaw registered the patent for the Cat’s Eye in 1934 but it took several years to design what is known as the Cat’s Eye. It took him so long because not only did he make it bright enough to illuminate the road at night, he also made it tough enough to withstand all weathers and vehicles driving over the top of it.

It was not until 1937 however, that Percy Shaw won the contract from the government to mass produce the Cat’s Eyes. Shaw made the road safety device from four glass beads, a rubber moulding and a cast iron base. To give off the best possible reflections Shaw decided that it was best to position the glass beads in pairs and face them in opposite directions. This was all integrated in an elasticated rubber moulding, which was firmly attached to a cast iron base. To keep the device in place it was buried and fixed in position with asphalt. Shaw made his Cat’s Eyes really tough, even if vehicles drove over them – the rubber was shrunk into the road and the glass beads dropped safely beneath the road surface and remained undamaged.

Shaw even made them to cleanse themselves with the help of a little rain-water – the cast iron base collected the rain water and whenever a vehicle ran over the top of the Cats Eye, the weight pushed the dome down and then the rainwater would automatically wash the glass beads keeping them clean and motorists safe. Shaw’s company Reflecting Roadstuds at its peak made over one million Cats Eyes a year and exported them across the globe.

My Photoshoot:

I decided to do my Photoshoto based in the salon at Canagie College: in fife Scotland. I think the shoot could have went better if I had more time. And if I had done the project myself, instead of in a pair. I felt I was a bit rushed, and I think I could have took a lot more shots.

I also used Photoshop to edit some of my pictures.

Zoom Movie Project:

Zoom Movie Project:

For this particular project for college we used ADOBE PREMIER PRO C3 edition to make our movie. The project outline was to make a short film of outer space then gradually zooming into earth then into the college.

The shots I included were

  • Outer space
  • The solar system
  • Planet earth
  • The stratosphere
  •  Scotland map view
  • Fife map view
  • Dunfermline map view
  • Carnegie college
  • I had filmed the end of my zoom movie project by using an digital video recorder and included it in the end of my movie, which has different shot types outside eventually ending inside the college.

For the sound effects I used I downloaded it from www.freesound.com . Also for the music I included was from www.youtube.com . The following music was used.

  • Oasis (Supersonic)
  • Fat Boy Slim (Right Hear, Right Now)
  • Starwars (darth vader) theme tune

I then saved the file to a video, and then I uploaded it to YOUTUBE

Feel free to check it out http://youtu.be/S2kzfP77Igg

I found making this project quite difficult as I have never used this software before, but once I got the hang of it was not that bad. I think I will be more confident in creating future videos as now I have used the software and know now what I am doing.

Mayan Calender End Date

An ancient Maya text has emerged from the jungles of Guatemala confirming the so-called “end date” of the Maya calendar, Dec. 21, 2012.

Considered one of the most significant hieroglyphic finds in decades, the 1,300-year-old inscription contains only the second known reference to the “end date,” but does not predict doomsday.

“The text talks about ancient political history rather than prophecy,” Marcello A. Canuto, director of Tulane University’s Middle American Research Institute, said.

Carved on a stone staircase, the inscription was found at the ruins of La Corona, in the dense rainforest of northwestern Guatemala, by an international team of archaeologists led by Canuto and colleague Tomás Barrientos of the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala.

The archaeologists made the discovery as they decided to excavate in front of a building that had been heavily damaged nearly 40 years ago by looters looking for carved stones and tombs.

“We knew they found something important, but we also thought they might have missed something,” Barrientos said.

Indeed, the archaeologists not only recovered 10 discarded hieroglyphic stones, but also something that the looters missed entirely — an untouched step with a set of 12 exquisitely carved stones still in their original location.

Combined with the known looted blocks, the original staircase had a total of 264 hieroglyphs, making it one of the longest ancient Maya texts known, and the longest in Guatemala.

According to David Stuart, director of the Mesoamerica Center of the University of Texas at Austin, who deciphered the hieroglyphics, the stairway inscription recorded 200 years of La Corona’s history.

ANALYSIS: 2012 Mayan Calendar ‘Doomsday’ Date Might Be Wrong

Bearing 56 delicately carved hieroglyphs, the stone referring to the year 2012 commemorated a royal visit to La Corona (which the ancient Maya called Saknikte’) by the ruler Yuknoom Yich’aak K’ahk’ from the great Maya capital of Calakmul on Jan. 29, 696 A.D.
